Thinner steel helps the company grow
Bovill TTF Ltd is specializes in heavy commercial bodybuilding and all types of truck and trailer construction. The company, based in Northern Ireland, is growing fast.
“Now we are moving to new locations, we are doubling our capacity and are planning to nearly double the number of employees during the next year. Even if there is a dip in the building market, there is still a lot of road construction going on and the demand of our products is good”, says Michael Bovill, manager and owner of Bovill.
At Tip-ex08 Bovill is showing their core product, a Tip All Body. The body sides are doubled and the inside liner is now made of Domex 700.
“Where we use Domex we have reduced the thickness from 5 millimetres to 3. The floor sheet is made of Hardox and there we have trimmed down from 6 millimetres to 4”, says Michael Bowill. In total the weight reduction is 700 kilo. Mark Hall has recently joined the company as technical designer:
“All our customers are asking for Domex and Hardox. But it is also a question of design to fully utilise the advantages of the properties of high strength steels”, he says.
