“It is an important mission for the world’s industries to solve the environmental issues, but I see that you already have a lot of products and ideas which will reduce greenhouse emissions,” said Bo Ekman, founder and chairman of the Tällberg Foundation when the second Nordic Steel Day was arranged in Copenhagen.
The theme of the conference, where more than 100 representatives from Scandinavian industry took part, was “Green Steel”. The speakers at the Nordic Steel Day mainly come from manufacturing industries using advanced high strength steel to create lighter products. “Green Steel saves weight and fuel, increases payload and pays off in every step of the production process,” stated Hans Åkerblom from SSAB, host of the day. Speakers such as Swedish Steel Prize winner Martin Wåhlin from hook lift container producer CMT, and Anders Welandsson, AB Varmförzinkning, confirmed the advantages gained by the lighter steel.
Bo Ekman was previously chairman and chief executive of the Sifo Management Group. Prior to Sifo he was, for many years, a member of Volvo’s management board. Bo is active today as advisor to boards of directors and top managers in the business environment analysis, strategic development, innovation and change management fields, both in Sweden and internationally.
The Tällberg Foundation organizes workshops´which have evolved into an important ongoing open dialogue on the wider issues facing business and society. The Foundation has created an independent meeting place, a space where leaders from business, politics and civic society come together and jointly address the most urgent challenges in today’s world.
