Docol DP/DL grades are high strength dual-phase steels, with a 2-phase structure that gives a combination of very high strength levels, far beyond conventional mild steels, whilst retaining formability.
Docol DL has better formability than the corresponding DP steel with the same tensile strength.
Minimum tensile strength levels from 500 to 1000 N/mm² are available, in thicknesses from 0.5 to 2.0mm.
Docol 1000 DP is available in electrogalvanized condition.
These grades have a low yield strength in comparison with the tensile strength, but the yield strength increases substantially with both strain-hardening and bake-hardening.
Consistent, repeatable properties ideally suited to modern production methods.
Typical applications are in automotive safety components such as seating, bumpers and intrusion beams.
These grades can be punched, bent and sheared but the stronger versions need consideration on tooling design: much more force is needed to work materials of these strength levels. These grades would not generally be chosen where very deep drawing is required.
These materials are fully weldable by standard methods.
